Problem Overview

This tutorial demonstrates piston cooling simulation using thermal coupling approach between fluid and solid models. Oil enters the nozzle inlet at 100oC with a flow rate of 4e-05 m3/s. The combustion heat flux on the piston top surface is 3000 W. The piston top ring, second ring and skirt surfaces are maintained at 130oC, 120oC and 110oC respectively. Engine is operated at 3000 RPM. Figure 7.220 and Figure 7.221 shows the geometry and conditions for the piston cooling fluid and solid models, respectively.
