Computational domain

This section explains the preparation of surfaces to create the domain. This is done with the operations splitting, combining and renaming of the surfaces.

Split Geometry

1. Select CAD Surfaces ballvalve in the Geometric Entities Panel.
2. Select Split/Combine Geometry or Grid in the Mesh Panel.
3. Select Split by Angle from the Operation drop-down list in the Properties Panel.
4. Enter 40 deg for Angle, click Split by Angle. Six new CAD Surfaces entities ballvalve_01 to ballvalve_06 are created in the Geometric Entities Panel.
5. Rename the CAD Surfaces ballvalve_01, ballvalve_02, ballvalve_04 and ballvalve_06 as ballvalve_cylinder, ball, ballvalve_outlet and  ballvalve_inlet respectively.
6. Select the remaining CAD Surfaces entities and select Combine from the Operation drop-down list in the Properties Panel, click Combine.
7. Rename the combined CAD Surfaces as ballvalve_end.
