Time Definition

To specify the time definition for the simulation, click the Run Setup icon and follow the steps below as shown in Figure 10.120

Select the TimeControl tab in the Run Setup dialog box.
Specify Time Control Flag as periodic. This denotes that the time definition is driven by the pump speed in terms of the cycles.
Specify Maximum Simulation Duration (Cycles) as 5.
Specify Reference Object as driver. The object driver is attributed with Pump_Speed, such that the time definition is driven by the pump speed in terms of the number of cycles. The cycle settings option corresponding to 360 Degrees per Cycle is selected.

To specify the time or number of cycles for which the complete 1D simulation is run before the start of the coupled simulation, follow the steps below as shown in Figure 10.121 .

Select Centrifugal Pump under Flow – Components – Centrifugal Pump.
Select the Simulation Phases tab in the External 3D CFD Component and/or Control dialog box.
Specify Engine Cycles or Time Before CFD (or “cfdreload”) Started as 1. This indicates that the complete 1D simulation runs for 1 cycle of revolution of the pump before switching to the coupled simulation.
