This tutorial explains the procedure to simulate the sea-keeping of a marine vessel with a planing hull. A general work flow is established for analyzing the flow of fluid around the hull and the generation of waves due to the hull-fluid interaction.
A simulation is to be performed to study the performance of marine vessel with a planing hull. The propulsion of the vessel is specified in terms of prescribed conditions, without any propeller model. The moving vessel achieves a target velocity of 2.673 m/s in the forward direction with a ramp up time of 0.01 s. Figure 8.48 shows the setup for the marine simulation, the physical properties of the vessel and the fluid properties.
