Setting up the model

This section describes step-by-step, the definition of the computational domain, mesh and the physics for the progressive cavity pump simulation.

In this tutorial, inlet and outlet volumes are created during meshing using Template Mesh/Surface. Similarly, the progressive volume is created during meshing using Rotor template mesher. The Progressive template does not require CAD Surfaces for Rotor Chamber Mesh, as in case of other template mesh. The progressive rotor mesh is created based on mathematical formulation. ´ Note:  The fluid volume of inlet and outlet can be imported from any CAD packages in .STL format into Simerics-MP+. Import the geometry using Import/Export Geometry or Grid.
Start New Project
  1. Launch the Simerics-MP+ application.
  2. Click New to start a new project. The New Project 1 is created and displayed in the Display Panel.
  3. Select FileSave As. Enter progressive_cavity_pump for File name and click Save.
