Defining Physics and Conditions

The physics and conditions are specified as follows.

Add Modules
  1. Click Select Modules in the Model Panel. The Physical Model Selection dialog box opens.
  2. Select Flow and Heat in the Available Modules list and click Add.
  3. Click Close, to close the Physical Model Selection dialog box.

Operating Parameters
Flow
  1. Select Flow in the Model Panel.
  2. Enter 1e-06 for Convergence Criterion.
  3. Select 2nd Order Upwind for Velocity and 2nd Order Upwind for Pressure in the Numeric Scheme expanded list in the Properties Panel.
  4. Select Yes under Gravity Force list.
  5. Enter 0, -9.81, 0 m/s2 for g under Gravity Force list.

Heat
  1. Select Heat in the Model Panel.
  2. Enter 1e-06 for Convergence Criterion.
  3. Select 2nd Order Upwind in the Numeric Scheme expanded list in the Properties Panel.

Volume Properties
  1. Select Volumes in the Geometric Entities Panel.
  2. In Common, select Ideal Gas Law for Density drop-down list in the Model Tab of Properties Panel.
  3. In Flow > Viscosity drop-down list, specify the Value as 3.548e-05 Pa-s.
  4. In Heat, select Constant Conductivity for Conductivity drop-down list.

Boundary Conditions

The boundary conditions are specified as follows.

Inner surface
  1. Select inner_radius from the Boundaries list in the Geometric Entities Panel.
  2. Select Specified Temperature from the Heat drop-down list and specify the Temperature as 373 K in the Model Tab of Properties Panel.

Outer surface
  1. Select outer_radius from the Boundaries list in the Geometric Entities Panel.
  2. Select Specified Temperature from the Heat drop-down list and specify the Temperature as 327 K in the Model Tab of Properties Panel.

Bottom and Top surfaces
  1. Select bottom_surface and top_surface from the Boundaries list in the Geometric Entities Panel.
  2. Select Symmetry from the Flow drop-down list in the Model Tab of Properties Panel.
