17.1 Introduction
The marine simulation in Simerics-MP requires the understanding of the vessel construction, terminologies, analysis methods and the steps involved in the modelling. They are comprehensively discussed as follows:
- Modelling the Marine Vessel: The various terminologies used in the marine industry and their respective use in the simulation are explained in this section. It begins with the construction of the ship/ marine vessel and their geometric entities. It also covers the typical measurements, theories of ship motion and analysis methods for marine performance prediction.
- Setting up the model: The setting up of a marine model involves defining the domain and representing this fluid domain with a suitable mesh for the fluid flow to be solved. The physics and the conditions are defined to perform the simulation.
- Simulation: This section explains the parameters to run the simulation.
- Post processing: This section provides information on the representation and visualization of the results through contours, plots and animations.
