8.1.2 Setting up the model
This section involves information about the marine simulation modeling.
- The first step is to import the geometry into Simerics-MP+ by selecting the Import/Export Geometry or Grid in the Mesh Panel.
- The setup of the computational domain and the mesh is done by the Marine Template Mesher in the Mesh Panel. The physics is defined through the Marine Model in the Model Panel. The steps involved are:
- Computational Domain: In the case of a marine simulation, the flow is external and has to be solved around the structure of the ship. Hence the computational domain is created around the ship surface that is in contact with the water.
- Building the Mesh: Once the domain is selected, a grid of sufficient resolution is needed to solve flows around the ships due to the wave motion.
- Defining Physics: Defining the physics and the conditions for the simulation.
