Material and Model Property

Material and model properties are volume conditions in the Species module pertaining to selected Volumes.

Specify the material properties (Diffusivity or Model) as follows:

Geometric Entities Panel > Volumes > [Desired Volume]

Properties Panel > Model Tab > Species > [Diffusivity or Model]

Diffusivity

This can be specified for a selected volume as:

Constant Schmidt Number: For a selected volume, the Schmidt Number is directly specified as a constant. It can also be defined as a function using the Expression Editor. The value is used to compute the diffusivity (equation 5.495).

Constant Diffusivity: The Diffusivity for a selected volume is specified directly as a constant. It can also be defined as a function using the Expression Editor.

Note: In GUI panel, though the option Schmidt Number is also available for solid volumes, it does not have actual physical meaning and thus should not be used.

Model

For turbulent flows (when the Turbulence module is activated), the Model option is available for users to specify the Turbulent Schmidt Number. Note that this value should not be greater than 1.
