7.3.6 Dual Heat Exchanger Tutorial

Welcome to the tutorial for a dual heat exchanger simulation. This tutorial demonstrates the method to simulate heat transfer between primary and secondary fluids in a cross-flow heat exchanger using a simplified model. This also manifest the procedure to predict the secondary fluid temperature in cool-pack assembly (radiator, CAC, etc.) of an automobile.

The two fluid heat exchanger model is used to simulate a cross-flow heat exchanger. The geometry of heat exchanger is simplified and split into two overlapping volumes, as shown in Figure 7.305.

This tutorial includes:

  1. Problem overview: A description and schematic of the problem, explaining the conditions involved in the modelling.
  2. Setting up the model: Building the simulation domain, specifying the physics and conditions.
  3. Performing simulations: Steps to run the simulation.
  4. Post processing: Analysis of the simulation results.
