7.1.5 Vehicle FEAF Tutorial

Welcome to the tutorial of vehicle front end air flow simulation to understand both internal and external flow in a vehicle. This tutorial is performed using the Vehicle template which has refinements to capture the flow physics over the vehicle body and through the underhood components.

The car model used in the tutorial is the DrivAer open source car model. This is a realistic car geometry created by TU MunichInstitute of Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, Division of Automotive Aerodynamics, Technical University of Munich. by combining the designs of the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 series car models.

This tutorial includes:

  1. Problem overview: A description and schematic of the problem, explaining the conditions involved in the modelling.
  2. Setting up the model: Building the simulation domain, specifying the physics and conditions.
  3. Performing simulations: Steps to run the simulation.
  4. Post processing: Analysis of the simulation results.
