Setting up the model

This section describes step-by-step, the definition of the computational domain, mesh and the physics for the displacement hull simulation.

Importing the Geometry

The first step is to import the geometry or surfaces.

  1. Select FileOpen. The file displacement_hull_initial_cad_surfaces.spro is selected from the working directory in the Open Project dialog box, click Open.

Note: To import .STL file refer to Import/Export Geometry or Grid.
Scaling the Geometry

The default dimension for importing the geometry is meter(m). Hence the dimensions need to be checked once the import is made. The CAD dimensional information can be verified by clicking Grid and Geometry Information under the Mesh Panel. If a scaling is to be done from millimeters (mm) to metres (m), the following steps are used:

  1. Select Transform Geometry or Grid in the Mesh Panel.
  2. In the ensuing Properties Panel, set Scaling From as Millimeter and Scaling Factor as 0.001,0.001,0.001.
  3. Click Scale.
