9.1.2 Setting up the model

This section describes step-by-step procedure to set up the computational domain, the mesh, and the physics for the optimization of the 2D shape.

In this tutorial, annulus Volume for the external flow domain of the 2D shape is created during meshing using Template Mesh/Surface.

Start new project

1. Launch the Simerics-MP+ application.
2. Click New to start a new project. The New Project 1 is created and displayed in the Display Panel.

´	Note:  If user wants to skip the model setup and proceed directly for simulation, then import the prepared model 2D_shape_optimization_model.spro from the tutorial directory, with all the physics and conditions specified.

The steps involved in setting up the model are:

• Preparation of CAD Surfaces: This section explains the steps to create CAD Surfaces.
• Building the Mesh: A grid of sufficient resolution is created to solve the flow.
• Defining Physics & Conditions: Defining the physics and the conditions for the problem.
