5.6 Heat

In Heat module, Simerics-MP describes the governing equations of energy conservation for fluid flows, solids and porous media under both the inertial and non-inertial reference frames. The main focus is on modelling heat conduction, convection, and the thermal boundary conditions. While the heat sources due to radiation and thermal phase changes/mass transfer will be discussed in the Radiation and Multiphase modules respectively.

This chapter gives a detailed description of the governing equations for heat/energy transfer and the modelling of the thermal boundaries. The settings, parameters and outputs from the Heat module are also discussed.

To activate the Heat module:

  • Click Select Modules in the Model Panel. The Physical Model Selection dialog box opens.
  • Select the Heat module from Available Modules and Click Add.
  • Click Model Panel to see assigned physical modules for the simulation.
